October 2007
Would you believe that we save and planned this for a long time and Ariadne planned on not showing up. Ela and I would really get angry if she didn't show up.
The beach in Saud is really a virgin beach..it is not polluted and left to be discovered. However, the waves were really big and even Sophia who is a water person was scared to swim. The beach was really quiet, there were few people during that time. People said that across where we were standing is already Formosa, Taiwan.
Thanks Pam for bringing us there!

Ela and Me feeling ready with our 11-hour bus ride to Pagudpud | |
I felt uneasy by the time we were in Tarlac because the bus was really cold and I brought a very light jacket with me plus I don't have socks for the trip. By that time, I'm just learning the ABCs of traveling. So I focused all the energy and boredom that I have with the movies in my Ipod.

|
Upon reaching Laoag (which feels like forever), I thought that it is the end of the journey riding a bus...but its another an hour and a half ride from Laoag to Pagudpud.

At night, we sit in a kubo by the beach, drink Basi and share stories... |
Our Pagudpud Trip in 2007 was my very first trip up North...I learned a lot of things about Ilocanos:
- They are very hospitable (they even catch fish for your lunch and dinner)
- They have the local drink called Basi.
- They listen to radio stations that speaks their dialect.
- They do not have faucets, they have a water well (that Ela and I enjoyed using but I cannot post the pictures).
- Some of the lands there are not yet occupied.
