2008 was a bit stressful for me since I landed on a new job and after work I taught English to Korean high school students. Traveling was never set aside since I feel that this is my only motivation for working. Zaireene (my co-tutor) and I had this crazy idea to travel the "BIGLAAN' (not planned) style.
So here goes our BIGLAAN trip to Baloy Beach, Zambales on Sep 19, 2008 at Php 800.00:
Our bags are packed, Zai fetched me at CAA-Annex (where I used to teach) and go directly to Victory Liner, Pasay where we took the Olongapo bus, in 2008, its just Php169 one way. After two hours, tadaaaaa...we realized that we don't know how to put up a tent! Upon arriving at 11:00PM until 2:00AM we were trying to figure out how to pitch a tent!
and finally, at around 3:00 AM

Okay, so we are on a cowboy trip and at 3AM where do we find the nearest restroom? We decided to pay 20pesos on a public restroom for a quick need to pee and freshen up a little. This ends our mornight.
Good Morning OLONGAPO! but I wrote SUBIC! |
Yes, our tent, an accomplishment! |
Fortune tellers at Php 50.00 |
Breakfast at Php 75.00 |
We had breakfast at around 8 A.M. there are a lot of stores around so you don't need to go to an expensive restaurant. Ask the storekeeper to cook whatever you bought. As for the Fortune tellers, don't believe too much, mine didn't happen that way, but try it out just for fun!
After breakfast, we decided to watch the Skim Boarders along the shorelines:
Skim Boarders from Ateneo, as I remember |
Bored so we decided to take a deep at the other end of the beach:
SEASCAPE INN (047-2246928) |
and just about lunch time, we went to the nearest Barbecue stand and bought our favorite grilled foods: ISAW(Chicken Intestines), ADIDAS (Chicken Feet), Betamax (Chicken Blood) and Grilled Pork. Don't forget to order rice! Yummmy!
the view, while we were eating: A group of call center people having their teambuilding:
It is sad that we need to catch the 5PM bus going back to Manila. I was thinking of another night but our schedule wouldn't permit us.
So long! Until we meet again, BALOY Beach, Olongapo!
Don't be afraid to travel on a budget, you don't how fun it is to be in an adventure!
